Seems like the guys are busy in NY. They’ve been doing some acoustic songs, signed a shitload of Eureka cd’s plus I’m sure there’s lots more on the program.

Summer Tour

In case you’ve missed it, Rooney is going on tour this summer.
They’ll start out headlining with the bands The Young Veins and Black Gold as openers.
This makes me wish I lived in the US. I love The Young Veins – and I’ve seen Black Gold open for Panic At the Disco once, they’re really good.
At the end of July, Rooney will join the Shout It Out tour opening for Hanson, while they’ll still throw in some headlining shows. All the tourdates that’s been confirmed are up on Rooney-band.com – and I’ve started adding them to RooneyJuice. You can get tickets for most of the shows that Rooney headlines on Rooneytix.com.
If you buy your ticket on Rooneytix.com, you’ll get a signed tour poster with your order.

The Office Sketch

Seems like Taylor and Louie had fun while they were on the set of ICGE

 Taylor Locke & the Roughs

Taylor and Chris are currently in the studio recording TLATR’s 2nd album. You can read a little about that on TLATR.com

Taylor has done an interview with the Rock & Roll Report, where he answered a question about Rooney’s new album.

Q: Anything you can tell us about the new Rooney CD coming out later this year?

A: It’s eclectic and cool, and we self-produced it. I’m proud of my contributions and my bandmates’ contributions. We did it at Robert’s home studio, and some at me and Ned’s studio as well. I played lots of slide guitar, which was fun for me. It’s the same good-time Rooney you’re used to, but with a few new twists. Some psychedelia, some jazzy bits, etc. Check it the fuck out!

Thanks to Ale from TLATR.com for that one.

Seems like Rooney will be opening for Hanson this summer.

Robert tweeted this :
“The summer tour is broken into three parts, Rooney headline, then we join up with our friends Hanson, then back to headline dates.”

Anyway, the Hanson part of the tour starts on July 21st – All the tourdates are up on Hanson.net

I hear that there’s a pre-sale starting tomorrow at 10am. The pre-sale is only for Hanson.net members.

MTV has a behind the scenes video from the I Can’t Get Enough video shot.

Gotta love Louie, he always cracks me up.

Thanks to Jacqueline for sending me the link :)

youtube video for all you people from the UK ;)

Get your free download of “I Don’t Wanna Lose You” from Rooney’s upcoming album, Eureka, out June 8th, 2010.
All you have to do is sign up for the Rooney newsletter below.

Here’s your chance to pre-order Eureka and get a signed copy of the album – either as a cd or on vinyl :)

You can choose to get either the cd for $15, the vinyl for $17 or the shirt and cd for $25.

When you pre-order the bundle with the shirt, you’ll also get an instant download of the single “I Can’t Get Enough”.

You can order the pre-order from pretty much all over the world (Brazil and Europe for sure) – shipping for the bundle to Europe is just under $10 ($9.81 I think), which makes it just under $35 in total. Totally worth it :)

Robert has revealed a bunch of Rooney news on his twitter

- Album release date set to June 8th
- They’ve had a prep day for a new video (to be shot on Tuesday)
- They’ve done a photoshoot

Also, the Rooney Street Team has tweeted that something exciting will be happening for Rooney fans on Monday – so stay tuned :)

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I’ve been a little pre-occupied doing a little ”project” for Taylor Locke & the Roughs with some other girls.
Check out the brand new fansite on www.tlatr.com – We have bios, pictures, lyrics (corrected by Taylor himself :) ) and a bunch of other stuff up.
Remember to buy Grain and Grape on iTunes.

I won’t be posting too much about Taylor Locke & the Roughs on this site, so head on over to www.TLATR.com and leave us a comment :)

This interview with Rooney reveals that Rooney’s new album will be called Eureka :) Kinda fitting if you ask me ;)
(in case you didn’t know, Eureka means something along the lines of “having found it”, it being what you’re looking for)

Interview:
Rooney Steps Back, Regroups For Future

By GARY GRAFF
Of the Oakland Press

It’s been a busy time of transition for Rooney.

The Los Angeles rock quintet left its record company, Interscope, after it wound down touring for its 2008 sophomore album “Calling the World.” Then, it started working on a third album that frontman Robert Schwartzman says “wasn’t exactly the record we wanted to make,” so the group took “a step back” before starting over again in March.

That album, titled “Eureka,” was recently finished, and Schwartzman — the son of actress Talia Shire, brother of actor/musician Jason Schwartzman and nephew of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola — says Rooney was ready to get out on the road after a long stretch of studio time.

“We’ve been working a lot, recording, and we feel like we haven’t been able to get out and play for our fans,” Schwartzman, 26, says. “We want to get new music out, but we also want to be able to play shows.

“It’s nice for people to get something new from us and come to the shows. It makes it more of an event for us and our fans.”

“Eureka” isn’t due out until next year and will most likely be released independently by the band. To tide fans over, Rooney has put together a four-song EP, “Wild One,” culled from those recording sessions and featuring songs that didn’t make the final cut — but that Schwartzman says are hardly castoffs.

“The record is really diverse, and it shows a lot of different sides to our band and what we can do,” explains Schwartzman, who’s had several acting roles and was a guest vocalist on Demi Lovato’s “Party.” “We recorded 20 or so songs and we kept going back and taking a break and listening to what we had, reapproaching the record with new material.

“As we looked at the big list of songs, some of them didn’t fit together, but they were still great songs. We didn’t want to throw them away, and we saw that we could make a great EP as a piece of work on its own and get people ready for the album, too. That way it won’t feel like such a long time between albums.”

Thanks to Miranda for the link :D

Taylor has a new project going on.

The project is called “Taylor Locke & The Roughs”. Taylor is doing lead vocals and guitar.

The other members of Taylor Locke & The Roughs are (from left) Chris Price playing guitar and keyboard, Charlotte Froom (from The Like) who plays bass and Mikey McCormack (from Everybody Else) playing drums.

They have 4 songs up on their myspace, and I got to say that I love each one of them… Though during my first listen I fell just a tiny bit more in love with “What Have I Done?” than the rest ;)

You can find them on facebook too.

Awesome job Taylor Locke & The Roughs :D

Concerts

Taylor Locke & The Roughs will be opening for Sloan at Slim’s in San Francisco on Feb 19th. The doors open at 8pm and the event starts at 9pm.
You can buy tickets here.

Sloan is also playing a show in LA on the 21st. Seeing as Taylor Locke and the Roughs are opening for Sloan in SF – and has a concert listed on the 21st in LA, I’m assuming that they’ll be opening for Sloan in LA too. TLATR aren’t listed on the website though, so I don’t know for sure. If I’m right, they’ll be playing at King King on Feb 21st. Doors open at 8pm.

Upcoming shows

No shows booked at the moment.
